All You Need to Know About Business Cards

Starting your own business can be stressful.  Just think about all that is required to begin. One item that certainly plays an important role is business cards.  This is vital to anyone who is first starting their business, or even for those who are already established. 

The first thing to consider is what to include on your business card.  A business card is not meant to hold a lot of information.  You will want it to state the basic contact information of your business.  This includes:  your name (first and last), the name of the business, phone number, fax number, and an e-mail address.  Something that is also very common is to include a link to how the person can find you on a social media site or a link to your own business website.  Too much information on the business card just makes the card look too busy and not very appealing.  Usually, the purpose of the card is to simply state who you are and how you can be reached.  Remember this while designing your card.  It is easy to get carried away.

After you know what you want to include, you will need to consider the type of business card that will best suit you.  Although the information needs to be kept simple, you do not necessarily have to make the card as simple.  You may want something that will leave a lasting memory to the person receiving the card. 

One of the newest and most unique technologies is using a silk business cards or satin business cards.  This type of card is usually more durable and appealing.  There are also foil business cards.  This type of business card is usually printed with some type of gold foil.  Like the silk business cards and satin business cards, this makes the card more appealing and memorable.  However, too much foil can make the card look flashy or tacky.

You also have to decide what kind of finish you want to add to the card.  You can get a glossy business card or a matted business card.  The glossy finish is more shiny while the matte finish will give it a cleaner look. 

No matter what you decide, take the time to make sure all the information on the card is correct. If you place a link to a website on the card, verify that the link works correctly before placing it on the card.
